My Flight Journal

Did another 2.2 today, including 1.0 under the hood. Bumpy as hell! Also did several (5) touch and go's at Leesburg. If I ever had a fear of uncontrolled airports, today would have broken it. At one point I counted 6 planes lined up waiting to go, one on roll out, one on final, plus me and at least a few others in the pattern. It was insane. On top of that we had a kickin 12kt crosswind so I got lots of sorely needed practice with that.

Coming back into SFB there was a 727 holding short waiting for us to land. Controller told me to make a short approach. My instructor reached over and "failed" my engine abeam the threshold on downwind. It made for a short approach all right. He said he thought about pointing out that there was a Clipper full of people watching my landing, but thought that might be a little too much pressure.
